Structural Design for the Stage
Fall 2018

Thin Bridge Project

Drawbridge Platform Project

Stock Platforms Project
In Fall 2018, I took a Structural Design for the Stage class where I designed and analyzed structures for live entertainment. Similar to other classes, by conversing with the design team to create a design specification, brainstorming and evaluating concept designs, and moving forward with a detail design, I was able to solve multiple challenges and projects for this class. Skills that were learned include analyzing material under tension and compression, designing platforms such as stress-skinned panels and foam core panels, designing and analyzing truss bridges using method of joints, creating a Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, and creating material and cost lists.

The Thin Bridge Project consists of my structural design for a simple bridge with certain design parameters of thickness, distance between supports, and weight that needs to be supported.

The Drawbridge Platform Project consists of my structural design for a platform design that should support multiple people on the top as well as support a drawbridge on the side.

The Stock Platform Project consists of my design of multiple stock platforms for a theater that can take on a variety of configurations and heights while being budget and storage cautious.
