Pivoting Ceiling Project
In Spring 2019, I took a Mechanical Design for the Stage class where I designed automated scenery for the stage. Similar to other classes, by talking with the design team to create a design specification, brainstorming and evaluating concept designs, and moving forward with a detail design, I was able to solve multiple challenges and projects for this class. Skills that were learned include calculating required power, evaluating ways to reduce required power, selecting proper motors, gear reducers, and chain stages, and creating material and cost lists.

The Wagon Movement Project consists of my mechanical design for a large wagon to travel downstage and upstage without using standard winches.

The Pivoting Ceiling Project consists of my mechanical design for a unit with a ceiling that pivots. The ceiling should be able to pivot from a 30 degree position to a 60 degree position in both 5 minutes in one scene and appear to free fall in another scene.
